This is the world that I’ve

created. I’ve built it one brick at

a time, piece by piece, laid

layers one on another, but made a

safe spot in the middle where

I can hide.

I’m not sure I like it.

I wanted more once, I wanted

to own everything I touched. That

didn’t go well. Since then I’ve been

burrowing into secret

places, trying to keep myself

safe, the part of me that

matters. My life is so secret, no one

sees it. I stand on street corners and I

am invisible. I am waving my

arms and saying

Hey, I wanted to matter!

and no one sees me.

No one hears.

But I am safe.
