No one knows about this secret;
I carry it in silence. You
don’t even know and that’s
the worst part.
Some days it’s so heavy I can
barely pick it up.
Sometimes I just lay down beside
it with my arms around it.
This is one of those days.
It is in my bed; it lays there
breathing heavily.
Helpless, awkward.
I lay beside it;
my vigil.
